Why Now?

Why We Write

For years I've asked my students to think deeply about the many texts streaming at them -- from Instagram to Shakespeare, from Drake to presidential tweets, from literary criticism to OpEd columns, from First Friday sermons to classroom discussion.  I've also asked them to respond to these texts with their human hearts and their insightful minds. To grow with them, to discover my own voice, I have joined them.
